And there was an overwhelming response! I think we had over 50 people committing to pray for students and teachers that week. Friends, you have no idea how encouraging it was to get on my phone and see all of the notifications! THANK YOU for loving my boys! Thank you for praying for them. Giant smiles would brighten up their faces when I told them the names of people praying for them. Many of the boys saw photos of YOU through my FaceBook (Thank the Lord for iPhones!). They were so encouraged! I am still catching up on sending you all letters that they have written to you!
Teachers in Need...
ALSO, CLASS DRY ERASE BOARDS –When we are trying to catch street boys up in their education, time spent in the classroom is incredibly important! Last week I was keeping track of every minute used in the classrooms. I found that because of our blackboards in class, and our lack of electricity to make copies for the students, teachers were using up to 25 minutes of class time to erase their lesson off the board and then write practice problems on the boards for the students to copy into their books. Michael (Godbold) helped me with the idea of purchasing a good-sized dry erase board for each classroom. The teachers could write their practice problems on the boards before class… then as soon as the lesson is over, they can place the dry erase board in front of the blackboard, and the students could immediately begin working on their independent practice! I need to do some research and update this post because I am not sure the cost of good white-boards here, but I will let you know if you would like to consider making a donation for me to purchase 3-4 dry erase boards for our teachers. It would save literally hours each day in our classrooms!
You all have always been so faithful in supporting the Lord's work here, and I am so thankful to you all for your generosity. Thank you for your constant love, encouraging messages, and prayer. I could not be doing this without you allowing the Lord to provide through your families!
If you want to purchase some items online you could do that an mail it to my parents' place. Contact me for the address if you would like to do that.
Other items (index cards, pencils, and books) can be given to my mother or Cindy Ellis to be brought over at the end of May. If you would like to make a donation for supplies you can go to my giving page for secure online giving to CTEN.
