We are happy to have another licensed driver out in Bombo, and a guy we can hire as a driver when we have teams! Please continue praying for our D-House guys and their vocational training as they plan for their futures.
Evidence of Healing...
Honestly, he was a little wild! Or maybe a LOT wild. In school he had so much energy! He has a precious laugh and smile, but a little too much energy at times. I would classify him as a "stinker". One of those kids that drives you insane, but you just can't help but love. You know what I'm talking about, right? Well, that is Kaloli for you.
I fell in love with that little stinker, but sometimes he just drove me insane. He would become frustrated in his schooling and just quit. Simply give up in the middle of a lesson! He very obviously struggles with attachment to caring authorities so he would rarely make eye contact and wouldn't respond to a teacher's correction to his behavior. He really was a struggle in class.
I also worried about his relationships with the other boys. At times I felt he was a little too rough on the smaller boys. He seemed to wrestle only with those whom he could dominate, and I just really worried about how much he was beaten while on the streets. But I have continued to pray for him and ask that he be able to really establish connections with someone, anyone, on staff and so that he could be able to begin healing and feel loved. And guess who the Lord led him to … me.
Oh my, what joy comes from spending time with this little guy! He has been like a magnet to me out at the land… He has been coming up to me and tapping my shoulder, then by the time I turn around, he is gone! Nowhere to be found… until I hear his little giggle behind me.. And he is learning to play well with the other boys in the homes, including the little bothers and sisters (staff children)… Here he is in the bright green shirt playing with little Jesse and Desire! His literacy and math skills are increasing tremendously! He was 3rd in his class this last term… He is doing so well.
He still doesn't make eye contact with me all the time.. he rather avoids it (part of detachment disorder) but I have looked into his sweet eyes several times. And he is truly searching me out these days… coming around wherever I am and just talk, talk, talking to me. And yesterday I had the pleasure of reading with him in the living room. He brought me book after book and just asked me to keep reading. After several books he asked, "Are you tired?" and I told him I wasn't. So he grabbed 6-7 little Bible stories and plopped down next to me to read some more.
Here is a note he recently wrote to me… This is the first note I have received from him in my time here…May the Lord continue to give me wisdom and guidance in loving these boys and helping Him heal their broken hearts… And THANK YOU to the Randy Kinnick life group who is continuing to sponsor this boy so that he can be in a home where he is safe and loved.
I know the year is coming to a close, and I know you are being FLOODED with opportunities to give. There are classes, shelters, personal families, etc. that you can give to. I ask that as you are prayerfully considering where to give your financial support, you will remember my boys and the ministry our Father has provided here in Uganda. I know that you love me and care for me and my boys, and I will never doubt that. I know you love me whether you read these posts, "like" my pictures on FBook, pray for me, decide to support financially, or not. But I do pray that you will be sensitive to the Holy Spirit in where He is leading you contribute financially. If you feel led to commit to praying more faithfully for us here in Uganda on a monthly, weekly, or daily basis, I will rejoice with you in that. If you feel He is asking that you join the financial support team, I will rejoice with you in that as well.
Whatever you choose, I pray you are being led by the Holy Spirit and I am thankful to have you reading these posts and praying, if that is what the Lord desires from you. THANK YOU. You are all so faithful to care for me and I am often so very overwhelmed by your love for my boys…
