Wait Time is God Time
I WAS CRUSHED.
I cried in the hotel room.
Geof was also quite obviously disappointed and let down.
We felt confused.
Why?? Why didn’t God show us this document? Why did we make this mistake? The timing was going to be perfect! Now we have no idea when it will happen… More waiting… *sigh*
In the story of Esther, we finally reach a point where she is allowed into the King’s presence to advocate for the Isarelites' lives. Mordecai begged her to plead for the lives of the Israelites! The king asked her, “What is troubling you? What do you need? I will give you whatever you want – up to have the kingdom!” And Esther requested a banquet with the king and Haman. WHAT?! Why didn’t she tell him IMMEDIATELY to find a way to reverse the annihilation of her people?! To save God’s People! WHY DID SHE WAIT?
Well, that evening the king struggled to sleep. To pass the time, he requested to read through the scrolls of his history as king. In this time, he discovered that Mordecai had saved his life and was never rewarded for it!
The Lord had a plan. HIS plan. Not Mordecai’s plan or Esther’s plan. Certainly not Haman’s plan either! There was a purpose for Esther to wait to make her request known to the king. Mordecai wasn’t even concerned about recognition for what he had done, but the Lord chose to use the waiting time. Mordecai was focused on saving his people. The Lord was going to take care of His people, but He also wanted to lift up Mordecai. If Esther had immediately made her request known to the king, this part of the Lord’s plan, revealing the truth to the king about Mordecai, the Jew’s, loyalty would have been missed!
We are able to see how God had His reasons for delaying Esther’s initial request. Wait time is God time. God had Esther wait because He was doing something more that none of us could see at first. Something we hadn't even expected!
But sometimes He doesn’t tell us why….
And that is where we are now.
We are in the wait time. The God time. May we trust He is doing what is best. And it will be good.
